Course programme

BA (Hons) Hospitality with Events Management

Mode: Sandwich

Meetings, conferences, conventions, exhibitions and events form a core business segment for many hospitality organisations. Ranging from hotels through to specialist conference and event venues, a management role in this sector is challenging but potentially very rewarding.

The Hospitality with Events Management programmes reflect the varied nature of the work carried out by Venue Managers.

Both the FdA and the BA include a compulsory 48 week placement.
BA students spend Year 1 and Semester 1 of Year 2 at UCB followed by a year of placement returning to UCB in Semester 2 of their third year.

A wide range of diverse career paths are potentially open after completion of these programmes, within hotel, business centre, conference, convention or exhibition organisation. Alternatively graduates may look at working as a specialist event organiser.

Placement Information
Your course has a compulsory placement .

Employers are looking to recruit staff with the right combination of skills, experience and specialised knowledge. Irrespective of which level you study, you will be at a major advantage when applying for a job if you have had some real experience of the working environment.

All our courses include opportunities to get valuable work experience, and the majority of these are real jobs with real responsibilities.

In total, around 2000 students undertake some type of work experience each year, with the Industrial Placement Centre arranging the majority of these. Staff from the Centre work very closely with students on an individual basis, in order to find the best match between their aspirations and the requirements of the placement provider.

Work starts a year before you are due to go on placement, you may wish to organise your own placement, which is always possible, whichever you decide we will work with you on a one to one basis, ensuring it's the best option for you.

There are a range of opportunities on offer including the UK, Channel Islands, Ireland, Europe and North America. In addition, if you are from overseas you may wish to return to your home country.

Most of the establishments we work with have taken students from the College for many years, so they fully understand what's required from the placement period.

Students at the College start their placements in either February or during the summer, depending on their course. Everyone gets a visit during the placement period, unless they are in a one-off remote location. If this was the case, we'd stay in touch with the student through email, fax and telephone communications.
