This course will help you develop a successful clean technology start-up and navigate the challenges of starting a business.
You'll learn what it takes to create a cleantech enterprise from both researchers’ and entrepreneurs’ perspectives.
You'll learn how to:
identify the skills required to solve environmental challenges through new venture creation
develop specific tools to take a clean tech idea from concept to reality
understand the dynamics of clean tech business growth (e.g. funding, marketing, networking)
You'll be immersed in the world of London’s cleantech start-ups, and be taught by some of the most exciting cleantech entrepreneurs around.
After the course, you’ll be able to become a member of Fast Forward 2030, a network of young entrepreneurs who pursue UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), curated by the Institute for Global Prosperity.

Course programme
In the first part of the course, you'll be introduced to the business side of a cleantech enterprise.
You'll learn:
- about the dynamics, drivers and restraints around cleantech
- how to seek funding for cleantech ventures
- how to navigate regulatory environments
- how to engineer the right support and use it to optimise your impact
In the second part of the course, you'll learn about the research side of cleantech enterprises through case studies. Examples from sustainable transport engineering, sustainable agriculture and the renewable energy sector will be used to show how research challenges and ideas can be translated into business opportunities.
You'll also visit at a subterranean urban farm located 100ft under the streets of London.
In the third part of the course, you'll work on a task in groups, under supervision. Each team will work on their solution during face-to-face sessions and by using the digital learning platform, before presenting their projects to a panel of experts at the end of the course.
