About this course

No pre-requisites to attend this course.
Our courses are designed for young adults to age 99, if anyone attending our courses cannot successfully complete the Basic Life Support test they will not be awarded a certificate.
All our courses involve some element of practical outdoor scenarios, each candidate should bring suitable outdoor clothing and footwear that may get dirty and wet for these sessions. If some of the course is required to be on snow candidates must be competent to do so.

Course programme

Although the HSE are changing this course to a 3 day course in October 2009, BASP will continue to run the course over 4 days to allow extra time for practical hands on scenarios and AED Defibrilation training for all candidates, thus giving more value and practical expereince to people who also work in the outdoors.

Additional specialized content will be included to meet the needs of clients whose candidates work in specific areas.

Certificate: Valid for 3 years. Certificates are normally issued within 2 weeks of the course completion. Certificates will not be issued unless full payment is received by BASP.

Revalidation of this course should be taken within 3 years by attending a 2 day HSE FAW refresher course.

HSE recomend that you refresh your first aid skills annually, this can be done by attending any first aid course up to one day in duration.

Accommodation Costs (L,D,B&B)

£65 per day per Trainer, except in the London area £80 or Europe £100 per day. Or the client provides full board for the duration of the course.

Confirmed Bookings

  • To confirm your booking please forward a non-returnable deposit of £100 per course, per trainer; plus purchase order if used by your company.
  • An Invoice for the balance will be sent 8 weeks before the course, payable in full 4 weeks before the course commences. If full payment is not received by this time the course will be cancelled. (Unless an exception has been arrange at the time of booking with BASP)

Cancellations

On receipt of confirmation of your booking, you will be liable for the following charges if the booking is subsequently cancelled. Cancellations received in writing or fax:

  • More than 8 weeks in advance - 25% of fees due
  • Between 4-8 weeks in advance - 50% of fees due
  • Less than 4 weeks in advance - Full payment

We advice taking out cancellation Insurance

Course Times

Most of our courses start at 9am and finish by 5pm. This can be changed by prior arrangement. Time out of courses due to any circumstance will only be acceptable if it is up to a maximum of 1 hr for 2 day courses and 2 hrs for 4 day courses, without forfeit of certification for attendance on the course. Please make prior arrangements with the office.

Additional information

Payment options: Invoices will be sent out 6- 8 weeks in advance and full payment should be received 4 weeks before the course. If this is not possible we need to be advised of this and agreement made. Certificates are not sent out until full payment is received. Note we do not charge VAT. The cost of the course is worked out by adding the Course fee plus the Travelling expenses, times each Trainer plus the Accommodation expenses (if this is not provided in full by the client). Course travelling costs are calculated from Aviemore, unless specified otherwise by BASP.
