Course programme

Human Anatomy and Digital Sculpture short course aims to explore and understand the human facial anatomy. The intention of the course is for you to learn how the face is structured and operates. How muscles are attached and interact with the skull, along with how fat and cartilage collaborate to create features, movement and expression.

Lectures in anatomy are combined with demonstrations in how to digitally sculpt. The high poly Mudbox sculpting software is demonstrated and you can put into practice the modelling techniques shown to create realistic head models following the rules of anatomy.

A taught anatomical lesson combined with digital sculpting techniques makes this different to most courses. There are a number of life drawing classes but not many specific to anatomy and not many that combine digital sculpting which makes this a unique opportunity for you to combine the two disciplines.

Topics covered

  • The fundamentals of human anatomy
  • Proportion
  • Bone and musculature
  • Techniques and tools of digital sculpting
  • Texturing and lighting of digital sculpts
