I loved the teaching staff. Professors are extremely helpful and always willing to sit with you and chat about your problems. They also encouraged us to think critically. Studying in the UK is truly about receiving and sharing, spending time with professors and my new friends makes me feel that I'm getting better everyday.

My research aims to identify factors that affect the employment choices of migrants. I'm looking at the British-Pakistani men in particular because almost 25% of British-Pakistani men in UK choose to drive taxis. There is also the debate about how free are people to choose their life options given the kind of ethnic backgrounds they are from, the gender, the class they belong to. So, it is a overarching question of structure and agency that I'm trying to answer through the case study of Pakistani men. In the first year you have to go through 3 modules. One is the philosophy behind the social science research. The second module that we do is one on research methods which is qualitative and quantitative. The third thing is we do a module called Understanding your Discipline and it's about understanding the different key readings in our discipline and critiquing them
