Successful completion of the Level 2 BTEC First Diploma or equivalent (Merit or Distinction) You do need a good level of IT You do need a good level of English and Maths If you need help with your English or Maths, the College can provide you with support at a time to suit you, which will bring you up to the required standard whilst studying your chosen course .

Introduction:
During this course you will further develop your working knowledge of computers. You will learn by completing a range of activities and practical tasks (hardware & software) related to the assembly and maintenance of personal computers. This includes digital imaging, fault diagnosis & repair as well as essential networking skills.
Study Mode & Location:
The course lasts for 36 weeks, 3 days a week. Classes start at 09:30 and close at 16:30. Due to the practical nature of the course any additional time spent practicing away from college will help you achieve a better understanding. It will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St.Vincent's Road, Preston, PR2 8UR.

Assessment:
The first week is a probationary assessment period, following which successful candidates will be invited to continue onto the main programme. For each unit you will develop a portfolio of evidence, including assignments and evidence of practical work.
Careers & Progression Opportunities:
This one year course provides an excellent foundation for further study or employment. On completion you may enrol on a more advanced course such as the Advanced University Certificate in Networking (Cisco CCNA) or a HNC or Foundation Degree.

You will need to have an informal interview with an Adult Admissions Adviser.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.
