Illustration for Comics for 14 - 17 Year Olds

Each day will involve a different task in the lead up to producing your own handmade graphic novel or picture book. Be prepared to be meet creatures and stories that exist beyond the realms of your wildest imagination. With the guidance of your tutor, you will explore methods of image making, character design, storytelling, composition and simple bookbinding. Working in a fun and supportive environment, you will create work in both 2D and 3D and be introduced to lo-fi production techniques. Everything you make will be created by hand and introduce you to the fundamentals of narrative illustration. You will be amazed by the skills that you gain, which you will be able to apply to many other projects in future. The course will also include an off-site visit to feed your imagination further.

Course Outcomes
You should leave the course with a finished graphic novel or picture book; a range of development work that would sit well in a portfolio for art college; the ability to make zines, comics or handmade books at home and fundamental skills in illustration.

Suitable for anyone aged 14 - 17 years, who likes drawing, making and creating things. As well as those interested in illustration or preparing a portfolio for application to art college. A fun opportunity that will allow you to increase your confidence in this area.
