Illustrator CS4/CS5 Advanced

Building upon our two day introduction course, this one day session explores techniques for developing image finessing and efficient workflow strategies. Unleash the power of Illustrator’s painting and drawing tools, and discover methods that simplify the process of creating complex and challenging illustration work. Examine techniques that save you valuable production time, from importing and enhancing scanned images, to customisable live effects and artistic brush styles.

By the end of the course, using practical hands-on tuition, you will have an understanding of the following features and techniques:

• Efficient workflow strategies - Your approach to work and the strategies deployed are as crucial as selecting the correct tools for the task at hand. Whether you're moving artwork back and forth from Photoshop, tracing scanned artwork or wanting to effortlessly clear your canvas to focus your editing. This module looks at starting off on the right editing foot!
• Creating 3D objects - 3D effects enable you to convincingly create the appearance of three-dimensional (3D) objects from two-dimensional (2D) artwork. Illustrator provides features to control object, lighting, and shading features
• Perspective drawing - Learn how to draw artwork with Illustrator features that work on established laws of perspective drawing. Ideal for small vector components, or for building an entire project within.
• Brushes - Brushes let you stylise the appearance of paths. You can apply brush strokes to existing paths, or you can use the Paintbrush tool to draw a path and apply a brush stroke simultaneously.
• Creating and editing complex illustrations - Learn how to make complex object creation and editing manageable with Illustrators key object transform and distortion tools. Learn new drawing techniques for drawing in front, inside and behind objects.
• Live effects - Effects offer far more than the over prescribed "drop shadow" or "glow". Learn ways in which effects can be used stand alone, or combined to assist in creating standout graphics. And as the name suggests, Live Effects are editable, and interchangeable
• Local and global colour - Delve into more complex methods of selecting and colouring artwork with the Recolor features, as well as creating custom asset libraries. Share colour between workstations, within the Kuler community, and across the Creative Suite.
