5 grade Es or above at GCSE iMedia level 3: as for all advanced courses. A level 2 qualification is also preferred.

Where does it lead?
This course can lead to advanced level courses, a modern apprenticeship or employment. It is suitable for those in full-time education who are looking prepare for work as: web designers, graphic artists, multimedia producers, animators, sound designers and editors, video producers, games designers and story boarders.
Other information
Students will be expected to spend time out of lessons working on their portfolios (approx 4 hrs a week). Although it is not essential to have a computer with Internet connectivity at home, students who do not have this facility will need to make full use of the College†s open access ICT room.

The OCR Certificate/Diplomas for iMedia have been designed to be accessible to students who are entirely new to using iMedia solutions. The courses are practical in nature with the emphasis on the production of a portfolio of evidence rather than an end of year exam. Students will be expected to spend time out of lessons working on their portfolios.

2D Game Engines:Create a 2D game to meet a specific design brief. Game Design: Learn to identify hardware technologies used for interactive games
Level 3 Certificate (1st year)
Digital Graphics:Develop the ability to use digital sourcing hardware such as digital scanners and digital cameras.
Web Authoring: Investigate a range of web sites. Use a web authoring program to create an enhanced website which includes navigation, framesets, style sheets, layers, and rollover buttons.
Digital Animation:Learn how to use a digital animation program to create an interactive animation which includes buttons, rollovers, scenes, video and sound.
Level 3 Diploma (2nd year)
Interactive Multimedia Design:Plan, develop, implement and test a complete multimedia product to meet a specific client brief.
3D Game Engines:Learn basic competencies in using a 3D game engine to create and modify a 3D game world, demonstrating the effective use of rendering techniques, utilising suitable textures and lighting, adding background sound and associating sound effects to actions.
Game Design:Understand the underlying principles of conceptual game design, practical game design, visual game design, audio design and storytelling. Use these principles to create and evaluate a games document.
