This course includes diagnosis, servicing and repair of motor vehicles – practical and theory.
Work experience will also be supported.
Additional qualifications will be offered in motor vehicle subjects together with Key Skills (Application of Number and Information Technology).
AdditionalityThe course is designed to extend the broad-based introduction to Motor Vehicle Servicing and Repair Level 1 which can only improve the opportunities for those wishing to gain full-time employment in the Motor Vehicle Retail Servicing and Repair Industry. Many local garages and dealerships appreciate the high quality training that students at West Herts College receive and contact us when they need trainees and apprentices. Often garages that require 5 A-C grade GCSEs will employ students who have successfully completed the one year full-time course. A large proportion of the course time is allocated to the practical work, which is carried out in the College’s excellent workshop facilities. The remaining course time is used to cover instruction in automotive theory, associated and applied studies including Key Skills and other subjects that are considered necessary to enhance the practical training given that will culminate in IMI examinations at the end of the year. Key skills – Communications, IT, Application of Numbers. Work Experience Programme.
