IMI Level 1 Technical Diploma Vehicle Body Repair

Who is this course for?

The MET course is for vehicle technicians who are involved in the repair of accident damaged vehicles.

What qualifications or experience do I need ?

You need to be working in the accident repair sector of the motor vehicle industry and ideally have at least two years workshop experience. You must be familiar with the skills, knowledge and techniques required to remove and refit various components of the vehicle before and after refinishing.

What will I study ?

Learners will be able to refine their skills and learn how to; remove and replace mechanical, trim and electrical components, carry out cosmetic panel alignment, remove and refit cooling systems, diagnose electrical faults and carry out four wheel geometry testing.

How will I be assessed ?

The course is a practical course and learners are assessed on their ability to perform set practical tasks. You will also need to complete at least one online assessment.

How do I join the course ?

You will need to complete an application form and return it to the admissions team either on-line or by post. You will then be interviewed by a member of the course team or other designated interviewer and may be required to complete a pre-enrolment assessment.

Any extra costs for equipment/materials ?

Whilst every attempt is made to keep the costs to the candidate to a minimum, the college reserves the right to charge candidates amounts over and above published fees in response to any additional charges from the awarding body. You will need to purchase the department uniform, protective boots and course books. You will also need to pay for some trips and visits.
