Previous knowledge required: Prospective candidates must be 16 years of age or over on entry to the course; have a commitment to working with the general public; be successful at college interview and meet the necessary entrance requirements.
What will I study? Practical skills in Indian Head massage. VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Health, Safety, Security & Employment Standards and the Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology are a pre-requisite for this qualification, they can be studied simultaneously unless they have been previously achieved.
What else will I do? During your time studying these qualifications you will be working commercially in well-equipped salons on members of the public and you will treat clients on a regular basis. Salon management skills are taught alongside formal training in practical skills. While you are studying for your qualification here at Coleg Powys, you may have the opportunity to attend additional seminars and workshops, often with well known outside speakers within the industry.
How will I be assessed? You will be assessed by practical observations of the new skills you have learnt and also be required to produce written work in the form of assignments and case studies. You will also be asked to sit written tests to show your understanding of the subjects.
What will I achieve? VTCT Level 3 Diploma Indian Head Massage.
What can I do afterwards? Progress on to other Holistic or Beauty Therapy courses. The Spa, Holistic and Beauty industry are among the fastest growing industries in the world. Over time you can build a portfolio of qualifications which will give you the opportunity to work in Spas as either a Spa or Holistic Therapist. Opportunities are also available on cruise liners, health clubs, local salons and hospices. There are many avenues in which you can apply your skills. You may also want to use your new skills to develop your own Holistic or Spa business, either opening your own treatment room or becoming a mobile therapist. You many also want to go on to study at a higher level
