Designed primarily for learners aged 14 to 19, this Level 2 BTEC ICT course will introduce you to core concepts within the sector. You will gain key skills and broad knowledge in producing IT systems, software, websites, mobile apps and digital graphics, giving you valuable insight and inspiration to pursue further study and work in this field. Throughout the course, you will have access to excellent training facilities at University College Birmingham, as well as being able to put your training into action on placement.
By completing this course, you will obtain a widely-recognised BTEC qualification and have the opportunity to progress onto a BTEC National Extended Diploma (equivalent to 3 A-levels) or an apprenticeship. You will also be able to move towards a variety of industry roles, from IT helpdesks or software engineering to web content or even graphic design and animation.

Normally, you will require 4 GCSEs at grade 3 (grade D) and above, including maths and English, or equivalent including English and maths
Alternatively you will need a BTEC Level 1 Diploma plus English and maths
School applicants will be required to provide a good school report and references
You should be committed, enthusiastic and have a desire to succeed in the IT industry
If you do not have a grade 4 (grade C) or above in English and/or maths and you are under 19, you will be required to complete an assessment so we can ensure you receive appropriate support
