Why study BSc Information Technology and Business Information Systems (Top-up) at Middlesex University?
This programme is offered as a final year top-up programme. By combining two key subject areas, IT and Business Information Systems, the programme has been designed to meet the requirements of students whose intended careers require knowledge and skills from more than one field of study. We require you to have completed a two year foundation degree in a relevant subject area
GCSE English, Maths and Science with a minimum of Grade C are required.
For entry on to Level 6, we consider the following qualifications:
240 credits form an undergraduate degree (including 100 credits at Level 4)
120 ECTS credits
FdA and FdSc
HND
DipHE.

Course content
What will you study on the BSc Information Technology and Business Information Systems (Top-up)?
The final year is comprised of four compulsory modules. You will be able to analyse and communicate users' perceptions and responses resulting from the anticipated use of an IT product or system. You will understand the technical, organisational and physical environment in which IT products or systems may operate. Finally, you will have the opportunity to undertake an individual project with a supervisor who has specialist knowledge of their field.

You will gain an awareness of the social, professional, legal and ethical issues involved in designing, managing and using information technologies. You will also gain an understanding of the advantages of strategically aligning information systems with different organisational and business goals and operational activities.
Core modulesInformation Systems Project (30 credits) - Compulsory
This project module consolidates and deepens the knowledge and skills gained from other parts of the programme. It provides a tangible demonstration of scholarship and an ability to work in a systematic and professional manner.
Social, Professional and Ethical Issues in Information Systems (30 credits) - CompulsoryThis module recognises the importance for today's graduates – who are tomorrow's professionals – of understanding the ethical implications and social impact of current technologies, having a working knowledge of the legislation that applies in this area, and applying their expertise in a professional way.
Strategic Management and Information Systems (30 credits) - CompulsoryThis module will provide you with an understanding of the issues that impact on information development and management including consensus, strategic alignment and change management.
Human Factors in IT (30 credits) - CompulsoryThis module includes analysis of user experience, the characteristics of users and their tasks, and the technical, organisational and physical environment in which products or systems may operate.
