This workshop is designed for intermediates with some experience but will also be useful to beginners who are seeking to gain an understanding of the fundamentals and the key issues. More experienced practitioners will also benefit from exposure to technical and other topics which are outside their day-to-day experience.
Delegates may come from a variety of backgrounds, including:
-Practitioners involved in or servicing project and infrastructure transactions - Investment and commercial bankers in advisory, lending or credit or related areas - Credit & fixed-income analysts - Sponsors, contractors, facilities managers and investors - Fund managers in infrastructure, private equity and hedge funds - Lawyers in banking, corporate or infrastructure - Accountants in PPP/PFI, audit or other ancillary services interested in infrastructure - Professionals in multilateral (e.g. the IBRD) or bilateral agencies (ECGD, Hermes) - Public sector employees from regulatory or supervisory organisations
Upon completion of this seminar, delegates will be able to: - Recognise which sectors lend themselves to project finance techniques - Understand the key structural issues necessary to create an efficient and robust project finance structure - Understand the key structuring parameters and how to develop the optimum capital structure - Develop a practical template to identify, assess and mitigate the key risks - Understand the key commercial aspects of Loan and related documentation - Indentify the critical aspects for the key players in the deal including; lenders, sponsors and investors
Your trainer, Michael Dance provides training and consultancy services on private equity, leveraged buyouts, acquisition finance, restructuring and infrastructure to clients in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, North America, Africa and Australasia. Since 2008, he has run programmes in conjunction with the Australian Venture Capital Association and similar arrangements have been in place with the New Zealand Venture Capital Association since 2009. He is the Programme Director at the Cass Business School (London) for Infrastructure Finance for the M Sc. programme in Business Administration and Finance. In 2009, he was appointed a Senior Advisor to KPMG Finland and specializes in advising their clients on debt advisory, restructuring, infrastructure projects and equity capital markets. Prior to founding MBO Training International, Michael was Director of cross-border M&A at MiesPierson in London, an Assistant Director at Hoare Govett and an executive at Lazard Brothers. He qualified as a lawyer in South Africa and as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte. He holds various degrees including BA, LLB, B.Compt. (Hons) and a Diploma in Taxation. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in South Africa and also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He was involved in the EU Phare programme during which he advised the Estonian Government on its privatisation programme and on the restructuring of its equity capital markets.
