Course programme
On successful completion you may progress to number of Foundation Degrees on offer at City College Plymouth. Alternatively, you could benefit from increased career opportunities with a range of companies, or even set up your own!
As an apprentice you will gain valuable experience and occupational competence within your workplace setting. You will be employed and, under supervision carrying out different types of electrical work.
You will need to achieve the full 104 credits from completing these units:
• health and safety legislation, practices and procedures
• environmental legislation, working practices and the principles of environmental technology systems
• practices and procedures for overseeing and organising the work environment
• practices and procedures for the preparation and installation of wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
• the principles of planning and selection for the installation of electrotechnical equipment and systems in buildings, structures and the environment
• the principles, practices and legislation for the termination and connection of conductors, cables and cords in electrical systems
• the principles, practices and legislation for the inspection, testing, commissioning and certification of electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
• the principles, practices and legislation for diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
• the electrical principles associated with the design, building, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.
You will also complete Functional Skills level two in maths, English and ICT, Employers Rights and Responsibilities and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills.
