The subagent is the one who sells the products of an insurance company, acquiring, increasing and retaining customers. Furthermore, he manages the economic and administrative obligations and the relationships between the agency, the clients and the company itself in a specific geographical area. Unlike the Agent, with whom he collaborates by following their addresses, he has no signatory power for insurance policies. To exercise the profession of INSURANCE SUB-AGENT, registration in section E of the Single Register of Insurance and Reinsurance Intermediaries - RUI, available from 1 February 2007 and governed by IVASS Regulation (Institute for Insurance Supervision) n. 40 of 2 August 2018. The rules governing the profession of INSURANCE SUB-AGENT are contained in the Legislative Decree of 7 September 2005, n. 209 "Code of private insurance", amended by the Legislative Decree of 21 May 2018, n. 68. The insurance subagent is seen by jurisprudence as a collaborator (autonomous, but sometimes he can also be subordinate) of the agent, who is normally entrusted with an area to take care of by carrying out what are the normal duties of the agency, such as collection of premiums, production of new contracts, customer care (e.g. in case of claims) etc.
