About this course
The normal entrance requirements are a good first degree or MSc in Computer Science, with the syllabus covering a substantial amount of programming, preferably in an object-oriented language. It is also expected that students will usually have completed at least an introductory course on formal aspects of computer science. Joint-honours computing graduates may also be eligible for entry provided they have covered the necessary prerequisite material.

Aims of the Programme
This is a specialised MSc programme focusing on the areas of computational intelligence and intelligent technologies, major research strengths of the Department. Students take a majority of their 8 modules in the areas of computational intelligence and intelligent information systems, supplementing these with other specialist options.
Students build upon this taught curriculum through a substantial practical project in the area of computational intelligence or intelligent technologies.

The programme has been designed to meet the needs of full-time students wishing to advance their knowledge of computational intelligence and intelligent information systems before embarking on a career in IT or on a research degree. The programme has a significant research element as several of the modules include investigation into recent research advances.
