We will be setting you on the path of C&G Level 3 Certificate grooming - we will provide you with opportunities to learn to groom the range of dogs you will need to trim for C&G Assessments, and we will be guiding you towards the theory you need to be aware of to enable you to take the written exams. Suitable for: People with an interest in learning to groom professionally, and interested in pursuing C&G Level 3 curriculum

About this course

Dog grooming professionally is a physically demanding job requiring groomers with lots of empathy for the animals in their care, and a great deal of patience. It also requires significant people skills.

Canis is engaged in providing advanced apprenticeship training leading to a City & Guilds Work-Based qualification at equivalent Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming. We are also involved in providing work experience placements for young learners with an interest in dog grooming, one of few establishments in the area to do so – you can see recent students at our Facebook page. Judy Chappell is the lead trainer, and she holds C&G Level 3 qualification in Dog Grooming, and a Level 3 qualification in Canine Massage Therapy. She also holds a C&G Level 3 qualification in Teaching Adults

Course programme

Course review:

Intensive Courses – from day one you will be involved in all aspects of grooming the dogs that are presented. We will teach you a broad range of professional skills that include the practical elements of grooming (bathing and drying, clipping, scissor-work, handstripping), through to health checking, salon maintenance, risk assessment to protect yourself, co-workers, and the animals in our care, and first aid, and we will be able to demonstrate canine massage. The grooming content that we provide will be mapped to the C&G Level 3 Certificate Syllabus, with progress through the syllabus dependent upon the length of your course. Your training will be supported with a pack of course notes to help you with styling, and also with the academic content of the C&G exam. Level 3 assessments and exams are not included in our course fees and would need to be arranged with external assessment centres. We encourage students to take notes, and bring their cameras along so that they can keep a record of their progress, building up a portfolio of their work.
