Course programme

Interior Design Level 2 is for students who have attended Interior Design Level 1 or completed an introductory level course in interior design and wish to further develop their skills and broaden their understanding of the process involved in designing a residential space.

The aim is to reinforce critical and three dimensional thinking and space analysis. Through a practical project, students will improve their technical drawing skills and presentation techniques, which will enable them to confront a simple design issue. The maximum number of students on the course is 12, which allows time for one-to-one advice.

Topics covered include:

  • design elements and contexts
  • kitchen design
  • ergonomics
  • space analyses, bubble and analytical diagrams
  • three dimensional thinking and space planning
  • using colour for interior design projects
  • axonometric and/or sketch model
  • soft furnishing

The course offers an opportunity for students to:

  • complete a design project from beginning (clients) to end (presentation)
  • enhance their drawing skills and learn to produce an axonometric projection
  • produce a colour palette of the propose interior
  • construct, when and if required, a sketch model
  • further develop the use of the sketchbook as a design tool
  • understand different materials
  • experiment with their ideas within the restriction of a space and brief
  • understand the importance of explaining and presenting their work

In order to achieve these objectives you should engage with the project and complete homework between classes when necessary.
