Design your own house extension and learn all the skills you need to draft fully outlined drawings to make a planning application. You will learn how to draft existing and proposed plans in accordance to current planning policies. This course is advanced level for students that have studied interior design.

About this course
- Understand how to prepare a design brief and the possibilities of extending a house
- Gain awareness of planning policies and regulations
- Learn how to measure and draw plans of an existing site and a building
- Learn how to draw floor plans, elevations and sections in 1:50 or/and 1:100
- Learn how to prepare a set of full outlined draft for a planning application
- Learn to read and scale from drawings.
It would be useful to bring a memory stick (or portable hard drive – please note PC formatted hard drives can be read by Apple mac computers, but not written to.) Bring a personal sketchbook/notebook to mark ideas and sketches. If you have no knowledge of digital software, a set of triangular rulers would be useful. Please get in touch with your course teacher and discuss these requirements further.
