You will learn how to interpret, design and adapt a range of new and existing environments by applying research methods and creative strategies for a range of spaces, objects and architectural scenarios that enhance the well-being of occupants and responds to client's needs.
Working at varying scales, sites, and contexts, we encourage you to develop a creative and intellectual position. You will explore spatial theories, societal contexts, and develop skills in space-planning, colour,materials, structure, lighting, and user experiences.
Our teaching team are highly experienced in interior architectural practice, research, user and community engagement methods, architectural digital modelling, and furniture. You will benefit international collaborations, engage in national and international competitions, participate in optional (self-funded) study-trips, and in national graduate events. There are exciting opportunities to study at other design schools under Erasmus and/or Study Abroad.
We are founding members of IE (Interior Educators), a UK network which provides our students with access to peer support, industry advice, access to national competitions and prizes, and exciting opportunities to exhibit in London and enhance your job prospects. We are members of GIDE, the Group for International Design Education, a network of eight nations who collaborate annually in week-long workshop in an EU city and in shared projects.

Course programme
Level 1
Apply directly to BDes (Hons) Interior & Environmental Design with a successful completion of a recognised Foundation Course, high school or equivalent (apply to W250).
Interior & Environmental Design shares a first year with BSc (Hons) Product Deisgn and Interaction Design. We explore projects reflecting the themes of people, place, design & technology. You will learn in a large open-plan studio and will develop your creativity, spatial design, and people-centred research methods. We offer an optional, self-funded study trip at this stage. Level 2
You will be introduced to interior practice in two large 40 credit modules. Smaller modules, led by Computing (School of Science and Engineering), introduce you to basics of coding, programming, and interactive objects and spaces. We welcome direct entry applications at this entry point from established colleges and other routes, and offer an optional, self-funded, study trip at this stage.

Level 3
You will collaborate with students in Product Design and Digital Interaction Design in semester one. Students can undertake an international exchange at this level. In semester two, you will focus on a spatial narratives module. You can participate in an optional, self-funded, EU interdisciplinary workshop at this stage. You will select one of three critical report options.

Designing and prototyping interactive physical digital objects and places linked to an EU collaboration.

You will develop an independent vision for your final-year studies in both core studio modules (90 credits) and critical written research options. You will be expected to collaborate in the conception, design, fundraising, and delivery of a cohesive exhibition as a group.
