2. Course description Apprenticeships allow 16+ year olds to start work and earn a wage while learning new skills that lead to nationally recognised qualifications. Apprenticeships are designed with the help of employers in the industry so they offer a structured programme that takes Apprentices through the skills needed to do a job well. Most of an Apprentices training takes place on the job but they will also have to complete off-the-job training within the College. The Level 2 Apprenticeship is for those working under supervision such as a Nursery Assistant or Playgroup Assistant working with children under five or an assistant in an out of school setting. This Apprenticeship is for people who work with children - from birth to 19 - year-olds (and their families) - in settings or services whose main purpose is childrens care learning and development. It Provides an opportunity to work with children and young people while also gaining an understanding into the hows and whys of their development. Students will be employed as Apprentices and will cover a range of subjects which include: - Communication- Equality & Diversity- Personal Development and Principles of Care- Childrens and Young Persons Development- Health & Safety- Support Children- Young Peoples Positive BehaviourYou will also be able to choose from a range of option units to match your job role.

3. Entry requirements Interview and full time employment and demonstrate the ability to work towards and achieve English and Maths at Level 2. 4. Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method Students will attend College on a Wednesday to complete a portfolio and English and Maths qualification. They will be also assessed for competence within their place of work by a qualified assessor using a variety of assessment methods including observations witness testimony written reflections and assignments.
