Course programme
This course is designed for both men and women who have successfully completed Level 1 qualification in in Hairdressing, or have relevant Industrial experience and are seeking to enter into a career in hairdressing. It also includes English and Maths qualifications
What qualifications or experience do I need ?Applicants must have: * Level 1 Assessment in Literacy or ESOL / 4 or more GCSE at grade D plus * NVQ Level 1 Hairdressing or relevant industrial experience * You must pass the written and practical test at interview
What will I study ?This course will cover the following topics: * Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your organisation * Make sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety * Advise and consult with clients * Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp * Style and finish hair * Cut hair using basic techniques * Change hair colour * Set and dress hair * Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work * English and Maths Students will be taught by direct observation, practise, theory sessions and demonstrations and gain industrial experience.
How will I be assessed ?Assessment will be through: * Practical observations * Oral questions * External written tests * Gain Industrial experience
What qualifications could I achieve ?On successful completion of this course, you will achieve City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing, English and Maths qualifications. Employers Rights & Responsibility Qualification.
How do I join the course ?Applicants will need to complete and return an application form, then attend an interview
Will I need an interview ?Yes. You will also be required to provide a satisfactory academic reference and you will be required to carry out a written and practical test.
Any extra costs for equipment/materials ?Students will be required to purchase a uniform, equipment and textbooks which should cost approximately £200. There will also be some additional exam fees: C&G Level 2 - approx 100.00 pounds
