The Health Care Cadet Scheme is a one year programme for those aged 16-18 years who wish to pursue a career in a Health and/or Social Care role. The scheme allows you to study health and social care and provides high quality NHS work placements with the opportunity to work alongside NHS professionals.

Course programme

In the first 10 weeks you will be on a college based Introduction to Programme. During this period, apart from commencing your qualification, an enhanced DBS (Criminal Records Bureau) and Occupational Health assessment will be carried out. You will need to have good attendance, punctuality and comply with all deadlines for the programme. You will be offered an Apprenticeship on a Fixed Term Apprentice Employment Contract with The National Skills Academy (Health) and be paid an apprenticeship minimum wage of £2.73 an hour (£102.33 per week).
