This course is for singers familiar with presenting songs in front of their peers, and familiar with learning in a workshop format. Repertoire will be chosen from a wide range of classical music in order to consolidate and expand the skills acquired in the Intermediate (lower) classes. You will be encourage to use your voice in a more flexible and artistic manner and to further develop your awareness of critical evaluation in singing. Singers will also be encouraged to explore examples of post-tonal 20th century repertoire and to try performing more complex music from memory.
At this level singers must prepare songs in advance so that the class can focus on communication and performance rather than note-learning. This term you will be working on lieder by Schubert.
