  • What I like about the lecturers here at Windesheim is that they are very engaging. They are very connected to you as a student and they know you by name. They want to help you succeed, they really care about your success. We do a lot of project work, and that can be difficult sometimes. Getting everyone’s opinion, to coordinate, and planning with everyone is not always the easiest tasks. But at the same time: working in groups is necessary. I think it’s really good to do it while you are in school, because realistically, when you go into the business world, you are going to be working in groups all the time. I would definitely recommend my friends to come to Windesheim. I think that going to a smaller city in Europe, instead of going to the main cities like Amsterdam or Berlin, gives you a very European experience. No one here is trying to be anything other than they already are, and I really like that. It’s a very genuine feel.

About the course: I am Laura, 4th year student. During the 4 years that I have been studying at Windesheim, I have gained a lot of practical experience. Together with fellow students I have been working on 10 different projects for 10 different organisations, varying from one of the top-3 Dutch banks, a bike producer, a cookie factory and an amusement park. Working on real life problems or questions for real life companies, made the projects very meaningful for me: it was not just a fake assignment. And I learned how to use the theory in practice. Besides the projects, we had a lot of guest lectures of different organisations, and company visits, to amongst others Scania (trucks) and Yakult (milk drink). And last but not least I did an internship during one semester at a company, and I’m currently doing my thesis within an organisation. I’m almost finished, and I really feel ready to enter the labour market. Windesheim offered me the right mixture of theory and practical experience in the past four years.

About the course: I am Lucy, 4th year student. The lecturers of International Business are really supportive during your studies. They want to help you with assignments as well as with finding internships. Thanks to their practical experience in combination with their academic knowledge they truly make the subjects interesting. You can notice as a student that the lecturers are enthusiastic about their field of work, thanks to the combination of their background at several companies within the business sector in the past and their didactical skills as a teacher. Their support made me the professional I am today: self-conscious and confident to enter the labour market.

About the course: My name is Hrisiyana and I am a 1st year student at Windesheim. I have chosen International Business for several reasons. The main one is that I am from Bulgaria, which makes me an international student. Later in my business career path I want to work abroad or with foreign companies. To me, the programme at Windesheim is the best of all similar programmes in the Netherlands. One of the things that really grabbed me, was the opportunity to learn another language. I chose Dutch, because it is important to me to learn and speak the language of the country where I am currently living and will probably be working after I graduate. There is also something really unique about our university. In addition to the main subjects like marketing and sales, finance, supply chain management and human resources, there is learning and development. This helps you to become your better self and later a better professional. I love the personal approach that is offered, with small classes of 12 to 15 students and project group around 3 or 4. The coaches are really helpful and approachable. They are ready to answer any question and help you with your assignments, which is great because they all have a professional background and experience in real companies. There is also the opportunity to be a more independent student and to manage your own pace of work and choose what to do and when to do it, while still observing the deadlines and guidelines from the coaches. The campus itself is really nice and modern. IB is in building X, which is entirely made from glass panels inside and out. It makes the classroom and the learning environment really calm and refreshing. There are a lot of spaces where you can study and work on projects, which I love to visit. In addition, Zwolle itself is a lovely town with beautiful architecture and interesting places to go to. I am really looking forward to my second year with the internship I need to do for a company of my choice and of course the study abroad, for which I can choose from over 100 universities all around the world.

About the course: In this programme you are truly being prepared to work in an international environment. Besides the theory you also learn about how to implement the theory into practice. We also learn soft skills, pitching skills, how to think critically, how to work in groups and about intercultural awareness. These skills are really valuable for your future career. The programme gives you a lot of opportunities and space to choose what you would like to do, and shape your own study career. During the programme you work a lot in groups on real life assignments for companies. The lecturers at Windesheim are extremely open-minded and really approachable. I would describe them to be more our mentors and coaches instead of our teachers. Because the classes are really small (usually 15 students) you can really follow your own, personalized learning pathway. Our campus has a lot of open spaces where you can work, chill with your friends our eat your lunch. We have 2 really good canteens and great sports facilities. Dutch language classes are mandatory for international students. This is really great because it helps me to understand my surrounding and it’s easier to communicate in daily life situations like in the supermarket or in the city. Furthermore it’s easier when you do your internship or a project with a company in the Netherlands. If I had to choose again, I would definitely go the same way, because the programme is really flexible so I can choose in which direction I would like to have my future career

About the course: Broad study programme My name is AmberAgterhuis and I choose to study International Business, because it’s a very broad study programme. The nice thing about that is that you can do just about anything you want after graduation. I also really liked the combination of languages, culture and business. It is just the programme you need if you want to look beyond the Dutch market and gain more international knowledge. Export is a recurrent theme So the subjects I have studied are very broad. Export is the main theme throughout the programme, but other economic subjects are also covered, such as online and international marketing, HRM, financial management, international logistics, law, market research and of course languages (French and English). So it’s a very broad programme and everything is covered, which means you learn a lot and develop a broad basis. The nice thing is that you also learn to combine things and to see connections. And you get to learn various skills.
