The course covers the key elements in debates about the dynamics of cooperation and regional integration in Europe as they affect defence acquisition. There is coverage of national and international export control regimes and the issue of technology transfer. There is a comparison of the guiding concepts, structures and processes of the UK defence acquisition system with those of key partners of the UK. There is also broader discussion of issues such as sovereignty, dependence, inter-dependence, military sales, supply and support chains, globalization and national cultural considerations.

What you will learn With increasing globalisation, it is difficult to identify an aspect of UK defence acquisition which does not have an international dimension. Whether it is technology from abroad, participation in multinational defence projects or foreign military sales, international aspects of defence acquisition affect government and industry.
