Course programme

CORE COURSES

i-Flex includes 12 core courses, covering several managerial topics and lasting each between 3 to 8 weeks. In each core course, students are given the maximum flexibility in planning how to take part in the following pursuits: learn about the fundamental concepts of the course (through video clips, Q&A sessions, live lessons and exercises with the faculty), put into practice and test their knowledge by applying their new skills in an assignment, develop a critical discussion on a topical subject in which they are helped by a tutor expert on the topic, and gain the ability and stimulation to go beyond a conventional interpretation of the various subjects, with the aid of multimedia clips presented by top thinkers and doers belonging to the WOBI network.

People & Organization

The course introduces the principles of organisational planning and the decision-making processes underpinning them, together with the various kinds of organisational structure and how contingent factors can play a role in this context.

The main organisational theories, process-based management and relative analysis and design are then covered in the course. Students then study the relationship between individual and organisation, with specific focus on individual behaviour and team dynamics, going into depth on the aspects of organisational culture, organisational change and the systems used to manage human resources.

Financial & Management Accounting

This module covers the following topics: international accounting standards (IAS/IFRS) and the standards for financial reporting, costs and management control, planning and control processes, budgeting and management reporting, variance analysis and cost centre evaluation. Students will also look at how to manage and assess company performance.

Industrial Economics & Economics of Global Markets

The aim of this course is to analyse economic systems, identifying constraints and opportunities, the market, monetary policy and international implications. The module will cover the world of industry and the related topics of efficiency, structure, concentration, vertical integration and policies, and the concept of economics in all its many facets, including networks and technological, international and monetary change. Commercial fiscal and monetary policies will also be covered, together with internationalisation strategies, contract management and the theory of international trade and its economic institutions. Lastly, the course will address the matter of inter-cultural management.

Strategy & Marketing

During the course, students will learn the basics of marketing, including strategic analysis, competitive advantage and strategies, portfolio strategies and portfolio matrices, value-based management, corporate social responsibility and corporate governance. Students will be able to apply their knowledge by preparing a business plan and will handle economic and financial projections, market analysis, client need analysis, market principles and the relative components and modalities. They will cover in detail the topics of client relationship management - CRM, and the management of marketing information, client loyalty and one-to-one marketing, internet marketing, integrated communication and international marketing.

Business Law

The module consists of presenting the principle elements of corporate law used to interpret, through the tools used in law, economic phenomena of exceptional importance in Italian and international markets relative to the creation and evolution of medium-large and large sized companies, with particular reference to companies limited by shares and the contractual tools to prevent and resolve conflict.

Supply Chain & Operations Management

The module will handle this increasingly important topic by looking at the various types of production systems and their main problems. It will also cover key performance indicators and strategic approaches to planning and management choices concerning production systems and operations-related quality management, in order to provide an overall view of the new situations and trends emerging in the field of supply chain management. The design of logistics networks, the management of relative decisions, the co-operative approach in SCM, the impact of ICT in this sector and distribution are all topics covered.

Finance

The aim of the course is to provide basic concepts of finance, presenting the techniques for evaluating investments as well as the financial structure of companies, forms of financing and the relative determining factors, financial markets, shares, bonds and derivatives and, lastly, company evaluation methods.

Innovation & Project Management

The course will cover the subject of innovation, its components and processes. Other topics in the course include the management of innovation in all its determining factors, phases, techniques and application methods, disruptive innovation, open innovation, from know-how to know-where, digital innovation.

Business Statistics

The aim of the course is to ensure that students learn about statistics, probability, linear regression models, auto-regressive models and models to estimate economic variables, the analysis of time series components and trend fitting.

ICT Management

Within the course, student will learn about integrated IT and management systems, in all their different aspects, and the models and strategies to plan information systems, looking at the strategies, management and governance of IT within a company.


LEADERSHIP & PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The program includes a Personal Development pathway, involving face-to-face interaction over the two international weeks, and by means of our smart learning platform. The objective of this program - in line with the other Executive MBAs we offer - is to develop the students’ soft skills, their ability of negotiation, public speaking and leadership, while
