The International Master in Industrial Management (IMIM), provides managerial skills to students with a technical, particularly scientific or engineering background, focusing on business skills relevant for pursuing managerial careers in international manufacturing and service industries.

The programme is conducted in a highly international environment with the possibility to spend the four semesters in up to 4 different countries. The programme experience goes beyond the classroom and students will also participate in language courses, seminars with managers / industry experts and company visits.

About this course

The IMIM aims to provide students with the competencies and skills necessary to develop a successful career in internationally orientated manufacturing and service industries.

The programme seeks to bridge the gap between university and industry, by teaching the relevant knowledge and skills essential to effective managerial practices, especially the skills and knowledge not traditionally taught in technical or scientific university programmes.

The course places great emphasis on fostering an integrative teaching approach aimed at developing the ability of students to tackle issues in an interdisciplinary manner, while additionally providing an overview of general management concepts, such as marketing and accounting, through an industrial context. The programme also offers, through close collaboration with associated industrial and service companies, the chance for students to combine practical and relevant knowledge and skills with invaluable industry experience.

Students with educational experience in a technical or scientific discipline. In addition, students should display a strong work and leadership ethic, and be prepared to meet the challenges associated with an intensive masters degree.

3 year Bachelor's degree in engineering or in a technical/scientific background. Business/humanities graduates cannot apply for this programme.

At the conclusion of the programme, students will be awarded with an internationally recognised degree from the partner universities including:
• Master degree in Industrial Management from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Madrid, Spain)
• Master di I livello: International Master of Industrial Management from Politecnico di Milano (Milan, Italy)
• Master of Science from Heriot Watt University (Edinburgh, UK)
* if third term is conducted at HWU
or
• Master of Science from Technische Universitaet Muenchen (Munich, Germany)
*if third term and master thesis are conducted at TUM
or
• Programme Grande Ecole Master in Management from Toulouse Business School (Toulouse, France)
*if third term and master thesis are conducted at TBS

The IMIM is 50% content and 50% context related. In addition to the delivery of managerial content, the program facilitates and stimulates student participation in the cultural, economic and social life of each of the countries where study is undertaken.

The course is 16-months long, plus the Master Thesis.

What I would highlight: IMIM has offered me an excellent opportunity for merging academic knowledge with work experience and international environment. This course it is a mix of a management vision and the challenges and new methodologies emerging in modern manufacturing and service industries. In addition to this, IMIM is a platform, a catalyst to apply for positions of greater re­sponsibility in an international business environment.
