The International MBA is an award developed to provide pre-experience applicants with a postgraduate general business qualification which will develop their skills and knowledge in the management of business at local, regional, national and international levels. This award will develop your knowledge of key business functions and their relationship with the wider strategic and international environment. You will also expand your knowledge and understanding of the current changes in the business environment through the study of strategic management, stakeholder management and corporate social responsibility. The programme is designed so that full time students are able to complete the course in two academic years. By the end of the programme you will have enhanced your knowledge and understanding of Business and Management concepts and principles, theoretical frameworks and applied analysis through a range of learning experiences. You will also develop key skills in formulating and managing basic research, problem solving and organising and managing projects. The International MBA with a placement enables students to gain real work experience in year two in a local company.

It will consider the contemporary approaches to international marketing and how these can be put in to practice. Topics covered will include strategy, research, business to business marketing, the use of social networking and e-marketing. Also there will be an element of consumer behaviour at Global marketing level which is an essential component in understanding differences and similarities between societies and how these impact on business.

The module is concerned with the achievement of organisational objectives whilst making efficient use of its resources. This module will examine a wide range business operations management concepts in the production of goods or services, the module will also look critically at the strategic planning process by assessing both the internal and the external environment of an organisation, followed by selecting a number of strategic options, actions and choices to achieve organisational objectives. The module will help develop skills in identifying, formulating and solving business problems through creative and entrepreneurial processes. The ability to recognise the need for and initiate change will be developed through the use of business cases.

The Professional Project module is an independent study unit. Students will be able to draw together learning from their previous subjects, focusing on their key strengths, in the production of a business artefact, this could be, but is not limited to a Business plan, a policy, marketing plan, work-based issue or consultancy project. Alongside the artefact students will develop a thesis outlining the rationalisation for their chosen artefact encompassing methodological approaches and a written critical reflection, which is designed to explain their rational for choice of artefact and reflect on the process of its production and dissemination

  2. Analyse strategic perspectives regionally, nationally and internationally at organisation and sector levels.
  3. Critically evaluate the relationship between the organisation and its environment and the importance and nature of organisational change.
  4. Critically analyse contemporary issues, challenges and problems relating to business and management that impact upon business and management at functional, strategic and sector levels.
  5. Evaluate the role and contribution of integrative strategic and leadership approaches
  6. Synthesise relevant critical thinking through academic research, completing an independent research project at master’s level.

These fees relate to new entrants only for the academic year indicated for entry onto the course, any subsequent years study may be subject to an annual increase, usually in line with inflation.


The entry requirements for the International MBA with Professional Practice are;

  • A Undergraduate Honours Degree (2:2 or above) from a UK university or overseas equivalent, or a professional qualification and/or experience considered to be equivalent to the above;
  • A reference from a tutor who has supervised the applicant’s undergraduate studies and/or employer;
  • Students may apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL) subject to the guidelines set out in the RPL Handbook. RPL includes accreditation of prior certificated learning and /or accreditation of prior experiential learning.
  • Please check our minimum language entry requirements before submitting your application.
  • We offer a range programmes in English as a Foreign Language if you don't meet these requirements.

Applications are also welcome from individuals who do not possess the above qualifications but who have significant management experience and are able to demonstrate previous non-certificated learning equivalent to the above. In such cases, admission to the programme will be based on an evaluation of the applicant’s ability to continue to benefit from and achieve the award.

Postgraduate Loan (Home Fee Status):

You may be able to get a postgraduate student loan from Student Finance England of up to £11,750 to help pay for a Master’s degree. Applications are made through Student Finance England and more information on the regulations and eligibility criteria can be found at Masters Loans gov.uk.
