Are y ou fascinated by politics and political developments on an international scale? This dynamic and topical course allows you to study and analyse key international and global issues that confront the modern world.
WHY CHOOSE THIS COURSE?
This course is delivered by International Relations experts focusing their research on security studies, development and peace studies, foreign policy analysis and the history of international political thought; giving you the opportunity to specialise in any or all of these areas.
If you choose this course you may benefit from:
- The opportunity to apply for placements with organisations in the media, in the past students obtained places at the House of Commons and Non- Governmental Organisations (NGOs) that the department has existing links with;

- the opportunity to apply for an international experience with international staff, an international curriculum. Field trips took students to Germany,

In your first year you will cover the foundation of international relations including the following subjects: Themes and Concepts in International Relations, Introduction to International Relations Theories, World Politics since 1945, and History of Globalisation.
In your second and final years you will apply these core subjects to a range of contemporary case studies and projects. You will also have the opportunity to focus on the area of your choice through specialised units of study.
HOW WILL THIS COURSE BE TAUGHT?Teaching is based on a series of lectures, with associated seminars, tutorials, workshops, online discussions and web-based activities. In addition, your personal tutor will review and discuss your progress with you and will be available for advice.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?How will my learning be assessed?
An estimated percentage breakdown of how your final grade is assessed is as follows: some modules will based on assessment at 50% coursework and 50% examinations, others will be coursework only.

TEACHING CONTACT HOURSIn a typical week you will have up to 14 contact hours of teaching and this will break down as:
Personal tutorial/small group teaching: 1 hour tutorial each week
Medium group teaching: 5 hours of practical classes, workshops or seminars each week
Large group teaching: 8 hours of lectures each week
Personal study: 23 hours each week studying and revising in your own time
