The suitability of different debt products for different companies at different points in their development is covered. The session also includes analysis of debt profiles including maturity profiles and refinancing risk. Participants understand the impact on a company of increased exposure to interest rate risk if financed primarily in floating rate and/or short-term debt. There is a detailed analysis of the rationale for blending different maturities and which blend is most appropriate for which company.
In the final part of the session, participants assess why a company may want to change its debt profile and how to optimize capital structure.
