You will learn the basics of Excel so you can create and design your own spreadsheets – for example to make your own monthly budgets. You will learn how to input and manage data, perform calculations and create charts and graphs. You will also learn the basics of formatting to enhance the visual impact of your spreadsheets. The course includes a general overview of the concepts, terms and functions of spreadsheets.

About this course

• describe the key feature of an excel spreadsheet
• enter data and text into worksheets
• enhance the appearance of the data by changing font, colour, size and style
• perform calculations in Excel using formulae and functions – such as sum, average, count, min and max
• convert numerical data into charts/graphs and make changes to them.
• create your own weekly budget calculator.

There are no additional costs attached to this course. You will need to bring a USB flash drive, your own pens to make your notes.

Course programme

• recognising the key features of the Excel window
• Entering data and text
• Enhancing the appearance of data by changing font, colour, size and style.
• using basic formulae to perform calculations such as sum, average, count, min and max
• Creating charts, graphs and enhancing their appearance.

This will be a practical hands-on course.You have your own computer and you will be encouraged to practise as much as possible. An interactive whiteboard will help make demonstrations easy to understand. It will be a relaxed learning environment and step by step learning will help you become more skilled. You will have lots of opportunities to ask questions and address areas you need help in.
