Photoshop is the industry-standard application for creating and manipulating images for print and for the web. This course will enable even the complete beginner to learn how to create complex images for printed documents and websites, combine different images into one and adjust the look and colour of an image.
Course content- Exploring the interface: The Photoshop work area, tools, palettes and menus, navigating your image, opening an image, saving an image.
- Photoshop Basics: Opening an image, saving an image, cropping, resizing, understanding and using colour modes - RGB, CMYK and greyscale, painting and brushes - tools and techniques, layers and how to use them, selecting parts of an image.
- Retouching and image correction: The Clone Stamp, the healing brushes and patch tool, altering colour and contrast, getting rid of dust and scratches, adjusting colour and contrast, non-destructive image correction with adjustment layers.
- Working with text: Creating a type layer, formatting text, warping text, using filters on text.
- Image manipulation: using filters; layer styles - drop shadows, bevels, glows; using the filter gallery.
- Compositing techniques: using layers, combining images, layer blends, adjustment layers, using the dodge and burn tools.
- Photoshop for Print: outputting for print, colour models and resolution, exporting to other programmes - QuarkXpress, InDesign.
- Photoshop for the Web: optimising your images with Save for Web, colour and resolution for the web, slicing images, making animated banner ads for the web.
