According to the official HSE definition, the term ‘workplace violence’ refers to “any act or threat of physical violence, harassment, intimidation, or other threatening disruptive behaviour that occurs at the work site. It ranges from threats and verbal abuse to physical assaults and even homicide. It can affect and involve employees, clients, customers and visitors.” Contrary to popular belief, violence can happen in any workplace and isn’t nearly as uncommon as most believe.
