Course Summary:
This qualification encourages an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed to care for young children. Covering everything from craft activities to children’s growth and development, it prepares you for your next step – either in training or moving towards a childcare career.
Entry requirements
All applicants are assessed on an individual basis and an interview is essential. You will need a profile of five GCSEs at grade E, including English, along with evidence of good attendance, punctuality, self-motivation and a positive attitude to study.
You also need two references and to complete an Early Years taster day successfully.

Course Content: Units include: Craft activities for young children Practical health and safety with young children Healthy living Self development Safeguarding Growth and development of young children You will also work towards a maths and English qualification with the support of dedicated maths and English tutors. In addition, you will attend weekly work experience within an employment environment linked to your interests. How will I be assessed? You will be assessed through a variety of methods including completing booklets, designing posters and working together as a team. To support your main study programme, future progression and life skills, you will also develop your maths and English skills through a variety of assessment methods. Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required? You need pen, paper and a folder. What can I do after this course? Further study The credits gained from this award can be used to progress to further CACHE childcare qualifications and the course is an ideal stepping stone to future learning and training. Careers The abilities and knowledge you gain on the course are transferable to a wide range of job areas.
