This course is a brief introduction to environmental management systems (EMSs). It consists of a number of workshops and tutorials designed to acquaint participants with the background and main issues that implementing an EMS raises. It draws on the practical experiences of professionals who have implemented EMS systems.
Some of the topics which will be covered include the various international standards - ISO 14001, Eco-Management and Audit Regulation (EMAR) and the general management of environmental risks.
There will be an exploration of ISO14001 requirements and participants will be learning timescales and documentation methods. Key implementation issues and strategies for how to integrate with the existing systems will also be covered.
The course can be tailored for in-house delivery, and can include workshops that are relevant to a specific site. This course is ideal for personnel wishing to learn about the background for EMAS. Also any individual wishing to implement a standard within the organisation.
