Discussion and question and answer sessions will provide you with the knowledge to use a computer correctly. Practical exercises will provide new students with the experience of using a mouse and keyboard and will build confidence in using IT equipment. You will learn how to produce a simple poster in Word. This will include basic formatting such as Bold, Italic and Underline. You will be able to add images to the poster and save and print the posters created.

About this course
You will gain experience of navigating the Internet and searching effectively for information. Exercises may include local information such as what's on at the cinema, looking up information about a hobby or interest, or searching for a holiday. You will have the opportunity to set up your own email account and learn how to send, receive and reply to email. You will be able to send emails with data attached, such as pictures, images and text files.
The course is aimed at students who are new to using IT and who have little or no experience of using a computer. Students may have had no experience of using a mouse or keyboard and may wish to find out more about what they can do with a computer.

Assessment Details
Informal assessment takes place in the classroom with your tutor as part of the course activity. This is not an exam course.

If you are unemployed and claiming Job Seekers Allowance/Employment Support Allowance or Universal Credit.
Unemployed and in receipt of a means tested benefit and wish to upskill to enter employment. (You will need to complete a self-declaration form).
