This apprenticeship will see you developing skills Office based IT applications and practical IT and Telecomms work such as helping companies set up new systems, training people to use their IT facilities, and providing 1st and 2nd line technical support. This apprenticeship covers work in a broad range of areas that help businesses work more efficiently through technology. This will include how they use and share information in applications, technical computer use, broadband provision, and satellite communications. Entry Requirements

Entry criteria varies depending on the framework that you are studying and the needs of the employer, however a good level of secondary education is expected and many employers expect you to have five GCSE’s including maths and English GCSE at grade D or above. Of equal importance are skills like motivation and work ethic, good interpersonal skills, good communication skills and a willingness to learn. Employers will set specifications depending on the role.

Delivery and Assessment

The duration of an apprenticeship will vary depending on the needs of the employer but you will be required to complete qualifications during the period usually with set study days. As part of the apprenticeship, there will be a number of specific skills that your employer or college tutor will monitor and observe to prove that you reached a certain level of understanding.

Progression

After completion of the level 2, you may want to secure a full time position as an ICT Support Engineer, Network Planner, Database Administrator or Network Engineer. If you wish to pursue higher level qualifications, the next step would be a level 3 advanced apprenticeship in IT (developing infrastructure management and support skills over 18 months), then progression onto a level 4 HNC higher level apprenticeship (24 months).
