This is a one year course requiring some previous knowledge of Italian, leading to the GCSE Italian examination in the Summer term.
The course is based on a communicative approach and aims to develop the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students who wish to take the exam at the end of the year may do so at either Foundation level, Higher level or a combination of both levels depending on the grade for which they wish to aim.
Students will be conducting realistic everyday conversations, finding out information and taking the initiative in various situations. They will learn to cope with a range of encounters, using formal and familiar styles of address. The past, present and future tenses will be taught through a variety of reading materials and authentic spoken texts. A main course book will be recommended.
