The pre requisite for this course are Anatomy, Physiology and Unit 22.
Reflexology has a history dating back to the Ancient civilsations - China, India, Japan and Egypt.
This introduces you to the world of feet and the thousands of nerve endings they contain. The course will guide you through foot maps and the connection with the physiological workings of the body. Enabling a treatment to be applied and bring homoestasis to the organs, glands and entire body.
These 'reflexes' then can then'balance'the corresponding organ, gland or part of the body. Circulation is improved, hence along with elimination of wastes and toxins removed from the body.
Reflexology is a powerful treatment, as it has the ability to relax the receiver, but also to rebalance all physiological workings in addition to the psychological effect to the receiver.
Sessions will consist of part theory and part practical, enabling the skills and knowledge to be applied on a continuous and supported basis. Ensuring the student is fully confident at the end of the course to take this therapy and begin practising.
The syllabus includes the following subjects:
- History of Reflexology
- Techniques and theories Past and Present
- Concept of Zone theory
- Contra Indications - Case Studies
- Foot Maps and their interpretations and corresponding areas.
- Feet reading
- Anatomy of the Hand and feet and their Disorders
- Integral Biology
- Hand reflexology
- Consultations, Patient Care to include Listening skills and treatment sheets
- Knowledge of other Complementary therapies.
- Uniform or equivalent (White polo shirt, navy trousers and black shoes) during the course.
Case Studies have to be completed - 10 people 4 times, each treament recorded in detail. The tutor will guide and support the formation of the case sudies. A mock examination will then indicate as to whether a student had reached the required standard to sit the Diploma exam. This will comprise of an hour multiple choice theory paper,a practical examination and the submission of the 10 Case Studies.
* Please Note the exams will take place on a week day and NOT at weekends. Student insurance is mandatory for this course and is available through variuos bodies eg. Embody, IPTI .
