This course will introduce you to creating jewellery from humble materials that tend to be overlooked or discarded. Challenge your perceptions of value and preciousness and learn new techniques, developing one off pieces or whole collections. Have fun transforming these ordinary materials into exciting, individual wearable pieces of jewellery using a variety of techniques. You will adopt an experimental, playful approach to the unusual and the everyday, enjoying transforming them into something new. You will be encouraged to bring in your own found waste materials to work with and/or share with the rest of the group. Of course all the students' outcomes will vary depending on your individual starting points, goals, chosen materials and types of jewellery. You might create anything from one-off pieces or studio jewellery, to catwalk pieces or whole collections.
