The news industry is changing at a rapid pace, with online technology allowing news circulation to become instantly accessible. As audiences, we now receive news on multiple platforms, from established and well know broadcasters to independent providers, with the use of more contemporary methods such as social media playing an increasingly important role.

Through both exam and internally assessed coursework, you will have an opportunity to investigate the contemporary news industry, current news gathering techniques, research market demand and learn about press regulation and ownership. You will be able to apply practical and creative skills and knowledge by producing a print product which will allow you to develop your own writing, proofing and sub-editing skills. The course will allow you to gain an understanding of the variety of opportunities and progression routes available within this sector and where you might like to take your career.
