This one-day course introduces you to Latin inscriptions and how they came to be used.
The session consists of a tutor-led presentation in the morning with some class participation and a guided visit in the afternoon at the British Museum. Further reading available on request.

Course programme

You will learn the origins of the inscriptions in Ancient Rome, their purpose and what were the key messages. You will be then able to see some of these inscriptions at the British Museum.

Bring pen and paper if you wish to take notes. Any other Classical Languages and Civilisations classes. See the website for details.
