The Diploma in Legal Studies is for anyone interested in law and with a curious, analytical and enquiring mind. You do not need any previous legal knowledge or experience to undertake this qualification.  The course is engaging, varied and will help you develop key skills in legal drafting, research, analysis and presentations. The course provides the basic foundations for your route into a career in law or for further study.

Course programme

You will study a variety of units, which are assignment based: Principles of Criminal Liability; Principles of Contract Liability; Principles of Negligence; Law in the Workplace; Civil Litigation; Consumer Rights; Family Law; and Wills and Succession. There is also one mandatory multiple-choice exam unit, which is: The Legal Environment.


All units are assignment based. There is one, multiple-choice exam unit.


You will take part in enrichment and work related projects as well as law related trips


Progression to Law Academy Level 3; Law Career Skills Level 3; CILEx Level 3 or CILEx Legal Apprenticeships.
