About this course

Students aged 16 to 19 should have 37 GCSE points (including English Language at Grade C or above). Students aged 19 or over should have GCSEs at grade C or above.

Introduction:
Law is a fascinating subject. From the criminal justice system to creating legislation, it touches many aspects of our daily lives. A Law qualification is widely recognised and respected, as the analytical skills you develop on a law course are useful not just in the legal profession but in many other fields too. This AS Level qualification is the first year of an A Level programme, and is a qualification in its own right.

Study Mode & Location:
This one year course will last for 3 hours per week. It will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent`s Road, Preston, PR2 8UR.

Course Content:
You will study a range of topics including:

  • Law making.
  • Dispute solving.
  • Concepts of liability.
  • Criminal Law.
  • Concepts of Law.


Assessment:
This course will be assessed by 100% external examination.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
Successful completion of this course allows progression to an A2 Law course (which when completed with provide you with an A Level in Law). Many students subsequently go on to university to study Law, Criminology or Government and Politics degrees. You may also study non-law related degrees as Law is a subject that enables you to develop skills such as analysing data and academic essay writing, that are helpful when studying any subject. Alternatively, you may seek employment in solicitors` offices or go on to study professional Law courses.

How To Apply
You will need to have an informal interview with a Adult Admissions Adviser.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.

Depending upon your circumstances, you may be able to study for FREE or at a reduced price.
