Managing People Differently - Part 1
Leadership starts with knowing your followers. In summary we must treat people the way they wish to be treated. This lecture provides the overview to be more socially intelligent and to connect with others for collaborative success.
Managing People Differently - Part 2
This second and last video around managing people differently informs you how to identify each of the unique personality types to know best how to interact and lead them. The new golden rule is... "Treat others as they wish to be treated"... not how "you" wish to be treated.
Criteria Based Decision Making - Part 1
In this first of two parts to making critical decisions, you will learn how to appreciate the importance of clarifying and aligning strategy before you identify and select your decisions to achieve it. There are typically many multiple choices or paths to take when attempting to realize a goal. These range from picking a critical location, to selecting the right vendor, or even personally, which graduate school to attend. Part 1 explores the approach to identifying the critical few criteria that will be used to distinguish between a great choice and many other good ones.
Criteria Based Decision Making - Part 2
In this final part 2 of criteria based decision making, you will apply a simple scoring matrix approach to distinguish between multiple alternatives. The formalization of this process in conjunction with aligning others that will be impacted by the ultimate decision will raise the quality of your actions and results. You will be encouraged to use this process for decision at work and other critical junctions in your life.
People Problem Solving - Part 1
People-oriented problems in getting work done are typically around 80% of the challenges we face. In this four part series you will learn a process to establish commitments and hold accountability with anyone you are working with, whether they are up, down, or sideways in a reporting relationship. In this first video you will learn step 1, the opening approach to exploring a people problem:
1. Someone has done something you did not want them to do.
2. Someone has not done something you did want them to do.
People Problem Solving - Part 2
In this 2nd video exploring the process of solving people problems you will learn steps 2 and 3; how to state the problem concisely and how to determine the root cause of the problem (motivation or skill).
People Problem Solving - Part 3
Step 4 of solving people problems addresses dealing with tangents so that you can keep the process on track to resolve the issue and maintain or improve the relationship. It also investigates the use of consequences to identify what will motivate the person, positively or negatively, to support a collaborative solution.
People Problem Solving - Part 4
Finally, in the last 2 steps of addressing people problems, the keys will be to arrive at a solution to remove the problem for good and establish a follow up plan to make sure it doesn't repeat. When people you work with make and meet their commitments, you will find that suddenly things get done as planned and there is more harmony in the workplace.
Stakeholder Management
I have often said, if you manage your stakeholders, you manage the success of your plan or project. Stakeholders are the key players that can support or challenge the success of any work effort. Knowing who they are from the beginning and formalizing a proactive plan to manage them will ensure your success and avoid a lot of frustration and missed deadlines. Learn how to construct a stakeholder management table and prevent problems before they occur by building a collaborative relationship with your key stakeholders.
