Who is this course for? This course is suitable for young people who wish to further their education in a college environment and/or if you have not yet decided on a career route. The course is designed to enable you to improve your basic and or key skills and try a variety of different taster options.

Previous knowledge required: Acceptance on the course will be through the College Application and Interview process.

What will I study? Your main qualification aim will be the OCR Learning Skills Award . Core Modules Include : Communication Skills,Maths and ICT. Options Include : Child Care Hospitality and Catering, Hair & Beauty, Construction, Motor Vehicle, Land Based and Environmental Studies. Your course will be designed to suit your needs and areas of interest and you will be able to choose to study and gain qualifications in one or more of the listed subjects.

What else will I do? Emergency First Aid, Essential Food Hygiene, Young Enterprise, . Work Experience and other short courses.

How will I be assessed? You will be assessed through a range of projects and assignments in line with the awarding body's requirements.

What will I achieve? On successful completion of the course you will achieve a portfolio of qualifications based on the modules you have undertaken

What can I do afterwards? * Progression onto the Preparation for Employment Course. * Progression onto a course in a particular Vocational area. * Entry into employment or a training programme.

Materials required: Appropriate personal protective equipment for practical sessions will be supplied by the college. Hospitality and Catering (Newtown Campus) - Learners will be required to contribute to the cost of ingredients on a termly basis.
