Course programme
You need some basic administration experience, but you don't need any previous qualifications or a current work placement.
To achieve the Level 2 Diploma for Legal Secretaries, you must complete 3 mandatory units and 4 optional units or 4 mandatory units and 1 optional unit for the Legal Studies.
Mandatory units:
Legal text processing and legal audio processing; Business skills in the legal environment; Proofreading in the legal environment.
Plus any 2 of the following optional units:
Legal spreadsheet processing; Legal database processing; Legal presentation techniques; Legal terminology.

The legal environment - Legal Studies
Plus 1 of the Legal Studies units:
Principles of criminal liability; Principles of contract liability; Principles of negligence; Family law.
Learners are assessed through assignments which will be available via the City & Guilds website. Practical work-based exercises will prepare students for their examinations and assignments. Assessments will test practical knowledge and applications in addition to theory. Students are kept up to-date with progress via subject tutors and personal tutor.
